IA and the Kingston Trust, two charitable organisations which provide support to those with an ileostomy, are jointly funding this study with the aim of improving outcomes for the person with an ileostomy.”

Overview

Grants applications are now open for research into the field of Ileostomy and ensuring the best outcomes and quality of life for patients.

Grant awards up to a maximum of £150k will be considered but it is envisaged that projects will be funded typically around £50k – £75k

Research

Bowel Disease Research Foundation will act as brokers for the mutual benefit of the partnership and will be responsible for the overseeing the whole process of advertising for and screening suitable projects, recruiting potential research teams, assessing applications and using its Research and Audit procedures to peer review and authorise funding. By using this process, successful applications will be eligible for NIHR portfolio status.

Topic for Research

Any high-quality research project based on improving outcomes for patients with ileostomies will be considered. Applications which particularly focus on ileostomies in patients over the age of 50, in view of the charitable aims of the Kingston Trust, are encouraged.
